Delhi airport is the nearest to Ramnagar which is approximately 295 km.

By Rail

Ramnagar is the only accessible railway station to Jim Corbett National Park.

By Road

Arrive at Haldwani/Kashipur/Kathgodam and reach Ramnagar by road.

Best Time to Visit Jim Corbett National Park

Jim Corbett National Park remains a favorite destination for wildlife lovers throughout the year. However, to manage tourist flow and ensure visitor safety, the Corbett Tiger Reserve has been divided into five tourism zones. Each zone has different operating seasons based on weather and wildlife movement.

Tourism Zones and Their Operating Seasons:

  • Dhikala Zone (Canter Safari Zone)
    📅 Open: 15th November – 15th June
    This is the most popular and ecologically rich zone, accessible only via canter safaris. Advance booking is a must.

  • Bijrani Zone (Jeep Safari Zone)
    📅 Open: 5th October – 30th June
    Known for dense sal forests and open grasslands, it’s ideal for day jeep safaris.

  • Jhirna Zone (Jeep Safari Zone)
    📅 Open: All year round (weather permitting)
    Unlike other zones, Jhirna remains accessible throughout the year, offering consistent chances of wildlife sightings.

  • Dhela Zone (Jeep Safari Zone)
    📅 Open: 15th November – 15th June
    This relatively new zone is known for its rich biodiversity and birdlife.

  • Sitabani Zone (Buffer Zone)
    📅 Open: All year round
    Although not part of the core reserve, Sitabani offers a great forest experience and is accessible without a permit.

The park follows seasonal timing for both morning and evening safaris:

Winter Timings (October to February):

  • Morning Entry: 07:30 AM | Exit: 10:30 AM

  • Evening Entry: 03:00 PM | Exit: 05:00 PM

Summer Timings (March to June):

  • Morning Entry: 06:30 AM | Exit: 09:30 AM

  • Evening Entry: 04:00 PM | Exit: 06:00 PM

When was this National Park established?

The national park was established in the year 1936 as Hailey national park to safeguard the Bengal Royal Tigers.  In 1950s it was first renamed as Ramganga and then the park got its renowned name Jim Corbett National Park. The Park got major establishments due to the British Sportsman and writer Jim Corbett.

Jim Corbett National Park is located in the foothills of the Himalayas and approximately 35kms from the northwest of Ramnagar.  The natural area is proximate in the southern Uttarakhand state.

  • Garjiya Devi Temple – The powerful Shakthi shrine is situated in the outskirts of the Corbett National Park.
  • Bijrani Zone Corbett National Park – Another national park situated in Bichpuri range,
  • Sitabani Wildlife Reserve – The beautiful ride into the deep forest is open for safari tours all around the year.
  • Corbett Falls –About 25kms from Ramnagar this place can be reached. A two km trekking from the road also lead to this scenic picnic spot.
  • Kalagarh Tiger Reserve –The Sonandi Wildlife Sanctuary is in the Lansdowne region of Uttarakhand. It accommodates almost 100 tigers and entertains wildlife safaris.
