Engagement Ceremony

Engagement Ceremony

Engagement Ceremony: – The binding of two hearts in India actually means binding of two families; hence maximum rituals are done to strengthen the bond and the relationship. Before the big day, there are many traditional rituals conducted across the length and breadth of many community people. The sequence of ritual observances and the customs may vary significantly but the whole theme was designed to increase the understanding between the couples. The engagement is also a legal way of announcing their guests that will be officially married soon. The little pushback of weddings can turn as a lifetime sweet memories and can make you prepare mentally getting into a new shell.

There are few royal families who even tend to carry out the engagement has become a new fad of today’s culture. On the contrary, some eco-friendly people like to carry out the event without polluting the atmosphere. In south India, during the engagement ceremony, a Lagna Patrika is vowed to confirm that the wedding will take place in the confirmed future date. As part of western fusion engagement rings usually made of diamonds or gemstones are also exchanged to represent the future relationship.

Haryana Jaats refer to the engagement ceremony as ‘Sagai’. Gujarathis call this ‘Gol Dhana’, Biharis ritual is called ‘Cheka’. In different parts of India, the engagement ceremony is called with different names but the exchange of marriage pledges remain the same.
